The Christ
event has revealed God to be a Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God as a
supernatural being is also revealed to be the true ultimate supernatural end of
man. Men who attain to the supernatural end, through the assistance of grace
receive the direct supernatural vision of God in heaven, called the beatific
vision. As the beatific vision of God is to see the divine nature, the human
intellect must be raised to that of God. The act of the vision of God is then
an infinite act, performed by the power of God, for men to see face to face, an
infinite good.
As atheism
denies the existence of God, atheism must conclude that the beatific vision
does not exist. Hence consequent to atheism, man does not have an ultimate
supernatural end in the beatific vision of God. But as atheism is false and
Christianity is true, then atheism concludes to an infinite negation of the
good of man.
Hence
atheism involves an infinite evil for man.
