The Protestant Reformers claimed they attained their doctrines from the Bible alone as the only inspired word of God and supreme rule for believers. One such doctrine the Reformers claimed they attained was justification by faith alone. There are many other doctrines that Martin Luther and John Calvin invented, and none of those novel doctrines are biblical. One of the great ironies of the Reformation is the claims of the bible as the sole and supreme rule of authority for the believer, and yet -
1) Sola Scriptura
2) Sola Fide
3) Numerous other Reformation doctrines such as Calvin's doctrine of double predestination.
Are not found in the Bible, but are in fact oral traditions of men derived from the Reformers. The basis of Protestant doctrine is then not Christ, nor the church founded by Christ, nor the church fathers, but ony the reformers, who were men without any authority from God to invent new doctrines.
The irony of human tradition as the basis for the Protestant Reformation infers the Reformation was fundamentally a closet humanist movement made apart from any legitimate authority from God. Such a movement will always end in the secularisation of the Protestant state, as we see in northern Europe and the ongoing decay of the culture in northern America.
